This compliance statement informs you of the regulatory details affecting the Company, the data that is held about you, how me might share that information and your agreement as to how we may contact you and for what purposes. This is in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998 and the EU General Data Protection Regulation in line with EU Article 29 Working Party and the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Customer Data Held by the Company
Customer data held by the company includes:
- Address (house, street, town, county, postcode)
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Emergency contact details (name and telephone)
- Date and place of birth
- Flight Crew Licence details (copies of licence and medical certification)
- Training records (critical appraisals of lessons, examination results)
- Usernames & passwords for Merseyflight systems access
No financially-related Customer information is retained by the company.
Data Retention and Security
The above data will be retained by the Company for a minimum period of 5 years following the expiry of the Customer’s membership / since the date of the last Customer transaction, whichever is the latest.
The data is securely held on-line within the Merseyflight accounting system, booking system and internal database.
Secure access to Customer data is solely granted to the Company’s staff for use in strict accordance within the scope of the business practices of the Company.
We do not sell mailing lists to other companies, or divulge any of your personal details to other companies or individuals. The Company will only consider transfer of flight training records to other approved flight training organisations where a written Subject Access Request (SAR) to this effect has been submitted personally by the Customer.
Data held by the Company will be strictly for sole use within the scope of the Company operations, which are:
- Use of contact details to facilitate the provision of goods and services as requested
- Use of contact details for administrative purposes, i.e. flight bookings and amendments, dissemnintation of safety information and operational notices
- Use of email addresses for the notification of appropriate products, services and opportunities (only where you have specifically given consent and strictly within the scope of the Company’s business activities)
Rights of the Customer
The customer has the following rights as defined under GDPR (see https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/)
- The right to be informed
- The right of access
- The right to rectification
- The right to erase
- The right to restrict processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to object
- Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling.
By providing your details either during the checkout process or during a membership application you, the Customer, confirm that you agree to your data being stored, processed and used according to the procedures detailed above.
You can request the amendment or removal of your data at any time by contacting the Data Controller using the Company contact details given above. Please note that removal of contact details is not consistent with flight safety and security and will therefore invalidate any school membership priviliges held.
If you have given consent to receive email notification of products, services or opportunities, you can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the Company directly or by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link on the email.
